Ticks: The Bed Bugs that really do Bite

You’ve got your bed time routine. You’ve been doing it for years and it’s like second nature to you. There’s no thinking involved, you was your face, you brush your teeth and if you’ve got kids there’s usually a bed time story too. However, have you included this important nightly ritual?

Why checking for ticks is now part of our nightly routine

It sucks, it’s exhausting, and it’s the last thing you want to do after a long day. But gone are the innocent days of 20 to 30 years ago when hiking through woods or fields in the Northeast U.S. meant at worst a bee sting or scratched legs. Try it today and you might bring home with you a blacklegged tick — a tiny, near-indestructible arachnid capable of transmitting a cocktail of nasty diseases with one bite.

Take note when it comes to ‘Phase one – Attack the Yard’ you could also invest in a barrier spray to keep the ticks at bay.

So what do you do if on checking your kids for ticks you come across one? How do you safely remove it?

It’s not just a nasty bite that your child is a risk from, it’s all sorts of tick borne illness such as Lyme disease, so make sure your night time routine takes time out for tick checks.
