3 Easy Ways That Odenton, MD Residents Can Eliminate Ticks

There are many things to do in Odenton, from bowling at Greenway bowl to a relaxing afternoon at A Better you Spa. However, it’s almost impossible to relax when the safety of your home has been compromised as a result of pests. Worried about ticks invading your yard? Then you’ll find the information in this post useful because we’ll discuss how to kill ticks.

1. Dryer

When you take a walk outside or go on a hike somewhere, it’s possible that ticks may get onto your clothes. To kill them, throw your dry clothes into the dryer and put it on the high heat setting. Within 6 minutes, all adult and nymphal ticks will have died.

Good, old trusty heat can be relied on to kill ticks, which is great news since we all have access to a washer and dryer. So one of the easiest ways to immediately kill ticks on clothing, bedding and other fabrics is to toss it in the dryer. The dryer is handier than the washer when it comes to ticks since dry heat kills all ticks much quicker than wet heat. Read more at Pest Hacks…

You can also use the washer with a hot water setting, but it will be less efficient because it’s wet. You should also check your skin to see if any ticks are on you too.

2. Diatomaceous Earth

The second way is to scatter diatomaceous earth around your home. When ticks or any other pests with an exoskeleton walk over it, it pierces and kills them. Spread it evenly on your carpet and wherever else they are likely to hide. They are also likely to be found in areas where you or a pet usually stay. This solution should get rid of most if not all of them within a week.

Diatomaceous earth is a silica dust that’s made from tiny, fossilized sea creatures called diatoms. Diatoms are microscopic, but they leave behind tiny, porous shells that collect on the bottom of the sea. When these shells fossilize, they create an extremely porous powder that we call diatomaceous earth. This versatile powder isn’t just used for killing pests. It’s also used as a fire retardant, as an absorbent, as a kitty litter ingredient, as an abrasive, and even as a stabilizer to keep explosives from going boom when you don’t want them to. Some grades are even edible, and are used to track nutrient absorption in farm animals. Read more at Essential Home and Garden…

The dust is also harmless to people, making it a good choice for killing ticks inside the house.

3. Organic Spray

The third solution is an organic spray you can prepare yourself. When sprayed on ticks, it will kill or repel any ticks in your house. In addition to being cheaper, a mixture of eucalyptus oil and distilled water in a spray bottle is organic and, therefore, safe.

Eucalyptus Oil is known as an effective tick repeller and killer. Just combine 4 ounces of purified or distilled water to a small spray bottle along with 20 drops of eucalyptus essential oil. Shake before using and spray on skin, pant cuffs, and shoes. Safe for use on dogs (eucalyptus oil must be diluted with the water before application on dogs). Read more at Farmers Almanac…

Organic sprays are recommended because they are less toxic to people and pets than normal pesticide chemicals.

These are all ways to kill ticks in your house easily, without using dangerous chemicals. This will put your mind at ease about your safety as well as that of your loved ones and visitors.
