There’s a lot of reporting all over the world concerning the Zika virus outbreak, but let’s not forget the other harmful and sometimes fatal diseases that mosquitoes transmit. Here’s an article with 5 mosquito borne illnesses that we need to be mindful of.

Here’s a brief look at the diseases that some types of mosquitos can spread in some parts of the world. Zika, West Nile Virus, Dengue, Malaria and Chikungunya.
Have you noticed something of concern that lies in common with all of these diseases? That’s right, “there is no specific cure or vaccine” other than a combination of drugs to successfully treat malaria. However, that doesn’t stop the disease being the biggest killer in the world, in countries where healthcare systems are not as wealthy as ours. The following video shows the never- ending tragedy of malaria. It may be upsetting for some to view.
As Zika concerns grow, protecting yourself from mosquitoes becoming vital
As fear about the Zika virus grows, it’s probably not welcome news to hear that the Washington D.C. area is one of the worst areas for mosquitoes in the country. According to pest control company Orkin, Washington D.C. came in third behind Atlanta and Chicago as the top mosquito cities nationwide.
Protecting ourselves from all mosquito borne disease needs to be a daily ritual. These critters are everywhere and we are all vulnerable to their bite. Think of those less fortunate, those that don’t have a choice to protect themselves because they simply can’t afford to. Now is the time to take action!
