Vaccine Could Kill Mosquitoes and Protect from Disease

Human beings could become their own personal weapon against mosquitoes and the threat of the diseases that they transmit. There may be a vaccination in the pipeline which not only protects us from all mosquito borne viruses, but also acts as a ‘mosquito killer’ to any of these pests that decide to bite those us who have received the immunization. Here’s an article with further information.

In a science fiction-like twist, scientists are weaponizing humans to passively kill mosquitoes

In a decade-long quest, a UK company called SEEK has developed a vaccine called AGS-v that it claims renders a person immune to all the diseases a mosquito can carry. Better still, it believes the vaccine could, in effect, weaponize a human. Every mosquito that bites a SEEK-vaccinated human would either die young or not be able to reproduce.

This test has now reached approval for clinical trial. Could this be the next breakthrough in combating mosquitoes and the life threatening diseases they carry? These bugs are nearby, they surround your home, however, you can easily take action steps towards mosquito prevention.

Let’s hope the tests prove positive and that the next steps can be taken to protect us all from these tiny killers.

NIH begins study of vaccine to protect against mosquito-borne diseases

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), has launched a Phase 1 clinical trial to test an investigational vaccine intended to provide broad protection against a range of mosquito-transmitted diseases, such as Zika, malaria, West Nile fever and dengue fever, and to hinder the ability of mosquitoes to transmit such infections.

Researches are looking for volunteers that are willing to be involved in these trials that could possibly lead to a safer and healthier future for us all. Would you like to take part?
