Living with the Misery of Mosquito Borne Illness

We will never be short of devastating stories as long as mosquitoes and their ability to spread deadly diseases are still accommodating this planet. The threat of the zika virus is currently a high reported feature of daily news, but let’s not forget the other dangers that come with these pests with their lethal bite. The following article shares the story of Mark Henning, who has been living with the misery of mosquito borne illness.

The Illness That Never Ends

When Henning first began developing flu-like symptoms in the summer of 2013, the 47-year-old Nebraska native tried to brush it off. He continued working three jobs and helping friends with construction projects on the weekends. But instead of enjoying a pizza and beer afterwards, Henning went home. His doctor told him it was probably just the flu.

Chikungunya, West Nile, Malaria, Dengue are just a few of the well known named viruses that circulate our globe and with the ability to travel so easily these days, the risks of spreading these diseases faster are rising.

No matter what time of year it is mosquitoes are still very much a real threat, which is why making sure your mosquito control is up to date is important in the fight against them.

The U.S is on high alert in particular as research has estimated that approximately 50 cities may be at risk for potential Zika outbreaks.

Mosquitoes could spread Zika in dozens of U.S. cities

Images of babies with Zika-linked birth defects and stories about paralysis related to the mosquito-borne illness have many Americans on edge as the warmer spring and summer months approach — the time of year mosquitoes become more pervasive. Where and when are the mosquitoes that transmit Zika likely to emerge in this country?

Now is the time to take action. Protect yourself from mosquitoes and avoid any chance that you may become the victim of the next recorded case of contracting a harmful virus.
